Health Check
- While designing an app for people with Alzheimer's disease, I engaged in a profound process of reflection. This process made me realize that the design must be user-centered, taking into account the cognitive abilities, sensory sensitivities, and ease-of-use needs of patients.
-
First, I recognized the importance of simplifying the interface and its operation. High-contrast colors and large fonts can help patients better identify the application's features. Second, considering the characteristics of memory impairment, I designed repetitive reminders and step-by-step guides to help users complete tasks such as medication reminders or daily activity planning.
-
In terms of functionality, I integrated voice recognition technology as well as the watch side to reduce the reliance on text input, and also supported family members to monitor and provide assistance through remote access. However, I also found that an overly complex feature set could lead to user confusion, so in subsequent designs, we focused more on simplicity and intuitiveness.
-
Importance of privacy and security. For users with cognitive disabilities, it is especially important to protect their personal data, so I strengthened data encryption and access control.
- Finally, user feedback is an integral part of the process. Through continuous communication with patients and caregivers, we constantly adjust and improve the app's functionality to ensure that it better meets the actual needs of users.
